two pages of comments for a web site update, but might be still
interested in anything else people might have to say.
- Christine Handley has another informal session in
Ecclesfield Library at 3pm on Wednesday 27th January. If
anybody is interested, just go to the table at the back of the
library.
- There is a meeting on the web site on 11th Feb at St. John's centre if anybody wants to go.
-
The first session at Thorncliffe to start scanning their images is
on 23rd Feb.
- There is also a visit to Stocksbridge History Group resource room at (probably) 10:30am on 25th February. Christine Handley needs to know numbers to arrange possible car-sharing.

address concerns". See Planning Applications below for the information
on alternative sites submitted by the applicant.

A photograph appeared, (but not yet, I think, any minutes )

The items in this section will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any member wishes to bring them up.
* Members may want to consider signing the petition against cutting down mature trees at https://sheffield.moderngov.co.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?ID=151&RPID=1004026&HPID=1004026
*There is a free workshop by Professor's Mel ones and Ian Rotherham, and Christine Handley on investigating & surveying ancient woodlands, their archaeology, and documentation on Tuesday 2nd Feb, 9:45- 4:20. I don't know how many places are left, but see http://www.yorwoods.org.uk/files/2015/12/Archaeology-Flyer.pdf. There is a more complete list of Grenoside Reading Room events at http://www.ecclesfield-pc.gov.uk/z_EVENTS%20FOLDER/2016%20DATES%20FOR%20READING%20ROOM%20TALKS.pdf
*There is a new library events page at www.ecclesfieldlibrary.co.uk/events, with lots of new paid and free library events on it. Paid events include a SugarCraft demonstration (Tickets £5 from the library), and Writing for Wellbeing £25 (email contact writing for well being co uk). There are also some free "taster" sessions by Kinetic in reflexology and mindfulness, plus talks on acupuncture and diet. If anybody is interested in these, just go to the library after 12:00 on Tuesday 16th February.
If any members can help, or want to bring any of the following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.
* Our archive is not back yet. The necessary updates are proving harder to get going than I expected, but are still being worked on.
* Our Joint Survey is priority, but we still need to decide on the question(s) we want to ask.
* Designs for the pop-up banners are in progress, and JP is working on the text discussed at the last meeting, and on indications from a meeting with ID on the graphics.
* We have a fireproof trunk for storing archive material. Members might prefer a more generally accessible location if one can be found [As well as perhaps other things such as our Gazebo].
* We still have plans to survey major trees within the Conservation Area (we have just lost two major trees from the land between St Mary’s Lane and Ecclesfield Park).
* We are still encouraging Sheffield City Council to proceed with their project to get their alcohol licensing system on-line so that everybody can see the opening times etc. which apply to each of the premises in the area. Meanwhile, we are continuing to check their manual list of licence applications.
The following planning applications were found by searching for Ward = “East Ecclesfield”, Parish = Ecclesfield Parish Council”, postcodes S35 9?? and S35 1TE, validated from 23 Nov 2015 to 26 January 2016.

[2014-05-25 There are now 461 items on the “public comments” section, all as far as I could see against the proposal.
`Also the meeting on 13 May 2014 was attended by approximately 50 people, following which the Parish Council raised a number of objections to the proposal. Apparently, one person gave support to the proposal, but was still worried about the quality of the jobs that would be created
Councillor Steven Wilson, and Angela Smith MP registered objections, saying among many other things that some of the proposed mitigations would be nullified by HS2

[2015-05-25 Still Pending Consideration - 550 documents, including the applicant’s documents on birds, habitat, mitigation, invertebrates, and an ecological appraisal (which appears to show an “island of mixed plantation woodland).]
[2015-06-22 Still Pending consideration - 554 comments, including an objection from Orchard Street Asset Management, as owners of Woolley Edge Service Station - partly on the grounds that the projected “Smart Motorway” (using the hard shoulder) will speed M1 journey times and reduce the need for a new service station].
[2015-07-27 Still Pending Consideration. the applicants submitted a “late summer bird” report saying…
A total of 35 species were recorded during the dawn transects (See Table 4 below), these species comprised five UKBAP listed species (dunnock, song thrush, starling, linnet and bullfinch), three red listed Birds of Conservation Concern (BoCC) (song thrush, starling and linnet) and eight amber listed BoCC species (kestrel, black headed gull, lesser black backed gull, swift, dunnock, whitethroat, willow warbler and bullfinch). |
[2015-09-21 Still Pending Consideration. There
are now 678 comments, virtually all of them against. However, the
decision is expected to be delayed until January 2016.

[2015-10-26 Still Pending Consideration. The applicants have re-submitted their environmental statement, in 73 documents. If anybody wants to go through these documents, they can be found at http://publicaccess.sheffield.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=N2ZWWHNY09N00 . I am wondering if the detail in them might be key to evaluating the proposal properly, or seeing what might be done in mitigation. ]
[2015-11-23 Still Pending Consideration] There
are now 885 comments. Note that Ecclesfield Parish Council have
supported the application. This is however subject to a number of
things, including something called a “Shadow Custodian Entity”. [If
anybody knows or can find out about this, there may be an
opportunity for us to make a contribution here. Presumably any such
body would need members and directors or trustees].
Note that the issue was reported by itv news http://www.itv.com/news/calendar/update/2015-11-13/last-chance-to-have-your-say-on-smithy-wood-development/
, but The Star says that any final comments have to be in by January
