- As agreed at our April meeting, we updated our listing in the Sheffield
Directory. [If anybody notices anything wrong, or wants some
additaional information, just drop me a line - JP]
Information watch
The items in this
section will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any
other business if any member wishes to bring them up.
- On 29th July at 15:00 there is another reminscence session in Ecclesfield
Library.
- On
9th July, there is an event at Grenoside
Reading Room to
celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Festival of Britain. It is
organised by the Parish Council Archiving Project, who are looking
for material from the event. There is also a walk from
Grenoside to the Birley Stone and the Toposcope.
- 14th
July, at 19:30 Mick Spick is giving a talk on "A to Z of Sheffield",
also in the Grenoside Reading Room.
Issues
from previous minutes
If any members can help, or want to bring any of the
following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.
* Our archive needs quite a
bit of work to get going - perhaps as a window to our physical archive.
* Joint Survey see agenda
item above.
* Designs for the pop-up
banners are still in progress.
*
We have a fireproof trunk for storing archive material. Members
might prefer a more generally accessible location if one can be found
[As well as perhaps other things such as our Gazebo].
*
We still have plans to survey major trees within the
Conservation Area (we have just lost two major trees from the land
between St Mary’s Lane and Ecclesfield Park).
*
We are still encouraging Sheffield City Council to proceed with
their project to get their alcohol licensing system on-line so that
everybody can see the opening times etc. which apply to each of the
premises in the area. Meanwhile, we are continuing to check their manual
list of licence applications.
New
planning applications
The following planning applications were found by
searching for Ward = “East Ecclesfield”, Parish = Ecclesfield Parish
Council”, postcodes S35 9?? and S35 1TE, validated from 09 Apr 2016 to
27 June 2016
26 Feb 2016 to 26 April 2016.
[The contents of brackets and italics are my
interpretation - usually made after only briefly scanning the
documents. Older comments on long standing applications have been
deleted, but should still be available on our web site]

is to reduce it by 50%.

I could not spot the difference between this and the previous
application. We did not comment on that application, and
indeed it was granted. This is a large detached house. The proposal
is still to extend the back of the house, as well as building an
additional story on top of the garage/kitchen to its left.

The applicant says that the warehouse is no longer used as a
printers, and suggests that the new use might employ 3 full-time,
and 5 part time people. From a planning point of view, it might be
a change of use from "General Industrial (B1) to "Assembly and
Leisure" (D2 ).

There are currently 90 objections on the SCC planning site. As
well as lots of other issues, there are at at least three horse
chestnut trees on the Green Lane perimeter of the land, which
members might want to comment on. The Star

This is an application by "Gold Key Lettings" to take down a
portion of their wall and give better access to parking off Mill
Road. It describes a 5.4 metre stretch of wall being removed, but
I can't work out if this is instead of, or in addition to, the
existing access.

Demolition of existing stables and erection of a dwellinghouse

This seems to be to the left of the penultimate house, before
Cinder Hill lane. One of its three gables is shown almost touching
the Green Belt Line, as does the existing stables. I had
difficulty matching up Google Maps/Satellite, with the plans,
partly because the last house on The Wheel before Cinder Hill does
not seem to be shown on the maps I saw submitted. It might be
worth informing SCC, that we have not been able to understand the
maps submitted, and therefore could not check the distance between
the proposed new house, and the last house before Cinder Hill
Lane.
