Communications
- [Via an indirect route], we received a poster for Yorkshire
Day, at High Green Miner’s Welfare Community Hall at 11am on 30th
July.
- We received an email
from our “Locality Officer” John Corris about
the proposed Smithy Wood Service Station, after he had been contacted by Councillor,
Pauline Andrews. [ We did reply but I am still unsure whether he
can help in this or other applications we might be concerned about)]
Information
watch
The items in this section will not
be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any
member wishes to bring them up.
- On 29th July at 15:00
there is another reminiscence session in Ecclesfield
Library.
- Grenoside Reading Room is having a “Heritage Open
Day Weekend”. It starts on 8th Sept with talks by Helen Jackson
at 10am and 7:30pm.
- Sheffield City Council
is offering free
dog microchipping (mandatory for dogs over 8 weeks). Phone 0114
27267598 for details.
- KM advised
us that the scaffolding etc. on Loicher Lane is to enable high sided
vehicles to use Nether Lane instead of taking a detour via Chapeltown to join the M1. Indeed, “Work on Structures”
is listed in Sheffield City Council’s latest maps. Also listed are
road works on Butterthwaite, Loicher, and Jumble Lanes.
- SCC, North
Area has published a letter from British Transport Police warning of
people walking across or along railway lines. They say that around 60
people a year are killed in this way, and that such trespass is punishable
by a fine of up to £1,000.
- Thorncliffe
Health and Leisure Centre was opened on 16th July.
- Sheffield
City Council say they are going to decide whether to continue the arrangements
for the volunteer libraries (Including Ecclesfield), and are asking for
views, in their on-line
survey.
- The
Council have posted a notice outside the library, which seems to describe a
new lay-by for busses opposite the library.
- Sheffield
City Council Ward Pot for 2016/17 amounts to £7,036.
- A cheaper, alternative
route for HS2 has been proposed, avoiding Meadowhall (and Ecclesfield). The Transport
Secretary is expected to decide later this year. Also, the 2026 target
date might be delayed for a year due to financial pressures.
Issues from previous minutes
If any members can help, or want to bring any of the
following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.
* Our archive needs quite a bit of
work to get going - perhaps as a window to our physical archive.
* Designs for the pop-up banners are
still in progress.
*
We have a fireproof trunk for storing archive material. Members might
prefer a more generally accessible location if one can be found [As well as
perhaps other things such as our Gazebo].
*
We still have plans to survey major trees within the Conservation Area
(we have just lost two major trees from the land between St Mary’s Lane and
Ecclesfield Park).
*
We are still encouraging Sheffield City Council to proceed with their
project to get their alcohol licensing system on-line so that everybody can see
the opening times etc. which apply to each of the premises in the area.
Meanwhile, we are continuing to check their manual list of licence applications.
New planning applications
The following planning applications were found by searching
for Ward = “East Ecclesfield”, Parish = Ecclesfield Parish Council”, postcodes S35
9?? and S35 1TE, to 26 April 2016.
[The contents of brackets and italics are my
interpretation - usually made after only briefly scanning the documents. Older
comments on long standing applications have been deleted, but should still be
available on our web site]

Use of building as micro-pub and erection of front access ramp

Ref. No:
16/02782/FUL | Received: Tue 19 Jul 2016 | Validated: Tue
19 Jul 2016 | Status: Awaiting decision
[I think this is the old Oak Carpet Shop. There were 4
objectors and a 24 signature petition against the related alcohol licence
application. This license has just been granted, but with restrictions,
including no drinking outside. As I understand it, the application above is for
"change of use", and is a separate decision, is made by a different
committee, with different set of councillors who are supposed to take into
account a different set of criteria.]
·
Alterations/extension to existing nursery to form 2 no.

14 Jul 2016 | Status: Awaiting decision
[This is the old nursery, which it is
proposed to turn back into one 4 bed, and one 2 bed dwelling. It could be
described as a sensitive corner plot, but most of it is screened by a wall. The
plan involves re-building part of the single storey previous extension, but I
did not spot anything more drastic]

I could not spot the difference between this and the previous application.
We did not comment on that application, and indeed it was granted. This is
