Item 6. There is a new consultation, asking whether people support the suggested re-routing of HS2b towards the M18, but allow high speed services to run to Chesterfield and Sheffield Midland station. The HS2 service starts around 2033, and the new route “promises” up to two trains per hour through Sheffield. The BBC say the new route saves £1 billion and results in a journey time of 79 minutes, rather than the current 120 minutes between London and Sheffield, although it does not say whether this includes the effects of possible “Northern Powerhouse” track improvements. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-36716526
The items in this section will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any member wishes to bring them up.
If any members can help, or want to bring any of the following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.
* Our archive needs quite a bit of work to get going - perhaps as a window to our physical archive.
* Designs for the pop-up banners are still in progress.
* We have a fireproof trunk for storing archive material. Members might prefer a more generally accessible location if one can be found [As well as perhaps other things such as our Gazebo].
* We still have plans to survey major trees within the Conservation Area (we have just lost two major trees from the land between St Mary’s Lane and Ecclesfield Park).
* We are still encouraging Sheffield City Council to proceed with their project to get their alcohol licensing system on-line so that everybody can see the opening times etc. which apply to each of the premises in the area. Meanwhile, we are continuing to check their manual list of licence applications.
The following planning applications were found by searching
for Ward = “East Ecclesfield”, Parish = Ecclesfield Parish Council”, postcodes
S35 9?? and S35 1TE, validated from 21st Sep to 24th Oct 2016.
[The contents of brackets and italics are my interpretation - usually made after only briefly scanning the documents. If you want more information, please note that I have had problems with the links to some of the planning applications, and had to remove their underlining. However, you should always be able to search for the Ref. No on Sheffield city council’s planning web site.]

Ref. No: 16/04322/FUL | Received: Tue 15 Nov 2016 | Validated: Tue 15 Nov 2016
| Status: Awaiting decision
[The block plan looks wrong to me, but I think this is the fifth semi-detached house up from Harrods Caterers. The extension is large, and its side wall nearer to the neighbouring property than the existing house, however it is only single story. I could not see what the effect on access to the back of the house might be, or any garage or car parking space. The extension itself is marked as a dining room.]

[This is the detached house on the left when going out of Ecclesfield, just beyond the cattery. It has a rendered upper floor. It is proposed to replace the existing well set back garage with a partly two story side extension. It could be overdevelopment. It seems to extend to the boundary of the property, presenting a long, high wall to its neighbour, who has objected on the grounds of light and views.]

[This involves the demolition of the block of shops including the pet shop, Estate agent’s, and Cerrones, and replacement by a 545m2 to 822m2 building containing possibly 12 apartments. It already has 29 objections, and as we now understand the system, must either be refused or go to committee.]

[2016-07-26 I think this is the old
Oak Carpet Shop. There were 4 objectors and a 24 signature
petition against the related alcohol licence application. This license has just
been granted, but with restrictions, including no drinking outside. As I
understand it, the application above is for "change of use", and is a
separate decision, is made by a different committee, with different set of
councillors who are supposed to take into account a
different set of criteria.]
[2016-10-24: Now with an email
from the applicant, detailing his case for a micro-pub, and
including several promises. On the other hand, there are now 103 objections,
including research showing that the vast majority of
Micro-Pubs do not have the restrictive opening hours proposed here.]

[2016-07-26 This is the old nursery, which it is proposed to turn
back into one 4 bed, and one 2 bed dwelling. It could be described as a
sensitive corner plot, but most of it is screened by a wall. The plan involves
re-building part of the single storey previous extension, but I did not spot
anything more drastic]
[2016-11-21: Grant Conditionally. Conditions include matching materials, and maintenance of the car park.]
