Letter received from Sheffield City Council
Conservation & Design Officer, Urban Design and Conservation 09 March 2010
The SCC made the following points to us, in regard of developments
within the Ecclesfield Conservation Area, and the Old Methodist Chapel
in Particular
- Historic buildings within the conservation area have a presumption against demolition.
- Any application for change of use, will have to preserve or enhance the character of the area.
- developers are encouraged to retain most of the building and any restoration should be sympathetic to the streetscape.
- Conditions which may be applied to any application,
include materials, parking, hard landscaping, and details such as
rainwater goods and windows.
