Keith Fish also said that he was hoping to attend the Northern Community Assembly meeting at the Primary School at Grenoside at 6:30pm on Wednesday, and would welcome any other members who could spare the time. Keith showed us a copy of an email he had sent describing the traffic on Town End Road/Church Lane, that he hoped would be considered by the Northern Community Assembly during their meeting, and 20 mph speed limits, and the possibility of us doing a traffic survey were mentioned. Contact Keith Fish or I.e. if anybody wants to help with this.
[7] Possible Projects: As discussed at the "brainstorming session at [1] above, good ideas are still needed and can be put to the Northern Community Assembly for funding. E.g. ...
... for raising the mile stone marking the old boundary between Sheffield and Wortley on Green Lane. .
...for re-furbishing the wooden stocks in front of St. Mary's Church.
...coping stones on the wall opposite the stocks.
...refurbishing the old stile near Gatty Hall at the end of Priory Road - needs time and equipment.

Things we have done

[1] Keith Fish reported the attendance by himself and MB at the "What would we like to see happen" brainstorming session at "The Venue", Stocksbridge, earlier in the day.
[2] The talk by Mel Jones on Wentworth House, was sold out, but Keith Fish managed to get a ticket, and reported that it was "first class".
[3] The plans for LadyCroft Meadow prepared by SH and accepted at the previous meeting were shown round. They include a "Village Notice Board", and a plaque depicting sites of interest around Ecclesfield. The work is planned to be done by the "Ecclesfield in Bloom Group".
[4] No progress was made on a possible Ecclesfield Village Green, but the question was put to the next meeting.
[x] We reviewed without objection, the planning applications listed in the agenda.
[y] The entrance to the old quarry off Town End Road, has now been cleared up, and bulbs planted.
[y] We shown the article in Look Local about the restoration of the Jeffcock Memorial, and the Northern Community Assembly's circular on their "You Choose" event.
[y] Apart from the more usual ducks, the bird photographed in the stream outside Morrisons Supermarket was identified as a Heron.

Resolutions Passed

[c] Copies of the Minutes of the meeting of 2010-02-15 were distributed, and approved.
[6] We resolved to publicise the email we received from the new owners of the Old Methodist Chapel in the hope that groups in the village might be able to make use of the building (subject to our not being involved in any negotiations on rental). [The email is now on conservation.ecclesfieldgroups.com/chapel.html]

Other matters discussed

[5] We had a short discussion about any changes at the Mini Mart on St. Marys Lane and what that might mean for its signage.
