Information watch

The Northern Community Assembly has minuted that Andy McKie will submit our traffic petition to the Cabinet Highways Committee and report back to the next meeting of the Northern Assembly. The minutes of 2011-03-11 also mentioned the painted strips on Wheel Lane, the new crossing outside Ecclesfield School, and possible sightings of temporary Speed Indicator Devices(SIDs)
With regard to requests for traffic calming of Yew Lane, minute 10.0 of the above reports that a traffic investigation concluded "that it is not appropriate to install traffic calming measures at this time". However, recorded speeds were in excess of the existing speed limit, so they did decided to look into moving the 30mph sign closer to the edge of the road to improve its visibility.
The Star said that Shire Green (apart from its main roads) is to be a 20mph zone.
The next meeting of the Northern Community Assembly is scheduled for Wednesday 15th June 2011 at 6.30 p.m. at ‘The Venue’, 650 Manchester Road, Stocksbridge, Sheffield, S36 1DY
The police say they have been concentrating on anti social behaviour at and around the Wheata Road shops. they also say that, if anybody wants their street designated a "No Cold Calling Zone", then to email ecclesfieldsna@southyorks.pnn.police.uk
The Parish council has a leaflet on the digital switchover, which if you are tuned to the Emley Moor transmitter will switch off BBC2 on 2011-09-07, and the remaining analogue channels on 2011-09-21. (There is also a Sheffield transmitter which switches off a month earlier on 2011-08-10 and 2011-08-24).
Sheffield City Council are asking users and prospective users which of Ecclesfield Library's sessions are least valuable, or for any other comments users may have about the proposed cuts.
