Communications received (E.g. on ).

  • Following the erection of the heritage board, we received an email concerning some very old framed photographs and a ledger detailing purchases for gimlet manufacture connected to the Ridge family.
  • The Northern Assembly says their next Small grant deadline is 2012-06-20.

Information watch

  • Our "leaflet" and "information board on the history of the working part of Ecclesfield" were noted in the minutes of the Northern Assembly¬. (However, The Sheffield Telegraph¬ has reported that the new Burncross board was "pulled up from its stand" [If anybody sees somebody vandalizing our board, I suggest an immediate call to 999 to report a "crime in progress" - JP]
  • Average traffic speeds on The Wheel were found to be "marginally faster" following the removal of the SID. It was intended to have a further meeting May/June to discuss the practicalities of any recommended action.
  • Average traffic speeds on the wider section of Yew Lane were found to be 28mph implying that some drivers were travelling faster than the 30mph limit, raising the possibility that Yew Lane should be included in the rotation schedule for the SIDs.
  • Stop/Go boards will be operational on Chapeltown Road between 20th and 27th May.
  • Mobile speed cameras¬ will be in operation this week on Chapeltown Road and Wordsworth Avenue.
  • The Star¬ says that we are getting an improved walking/cycling/bridle route to Winkobank (and Meadowhall).
  • The next meeting of the Northern Assembly is on 2012-07-10 (Tuesday) at 18:30 at The Venue, Stocksbridge.
  • Sheffield Council think that it is necessary to have a cctv camera tower in Chapeltown park¬ and the Parks Group are discussing a similar system for Ecclesfield Park.
