http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02463/hs2Train_2463857b.jpg3. There is lots of information on HS2 at https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/developing-a-new-high-speed-rail-network/activity, and some on how to cope with it at http://nicholsonsforestry.com/advice/forestry_hs2_01.htm .

 4. Members should have received an email on the opportunity to see the Grenoside and District Local History Group’s historical collection, and to visit the Grenoside Reading Room. Just be at the Reading Room at 13:30 on Friday 28th November. We should be able to see what they have managed to collect, and there should be lots of tips on how to organise, and store our own Ecclesfield Village Archive.

Information watch

The items in this section will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any member wishes to bring them up.

·        There is a talk by Mel and Joan Jones, on "The remarkable Gatty Family of Ecclesfield", in the library starting at 7 pm on 26th November. See the poster at https://ecclesfieldgroups.co.uk/gatty for details.

·       There was a serious collision last Friday on Ecclesfield Road, (just beyond Green Lane) near its junction with Deep Lane, thought to be due to heavy rain.

·       A job has been advertised for a part time, temporary “Project Co-ordinator” to work with volunteers on a newspaper. See the Burngreave Messenger website.

Communications received on conservation.ecclesfield@gmail.com

Again, the items in this section will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any member wishes to bring them up.

.

Issues left over from previous minutes

If any members can help, or want to bring any of the following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.

·       Specification and sourcing of a proper storage box for the Ridge Ledgers….
http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090730171833/ecclesfield/images/thumb/5/5a/EcclesfieldDam.jpg/139px-EcclesfieldDam.jpgand for historical photographs and other local items that we might be offered and want to preserve.

·       Best time for us to poll residents, and present the case for an extension to the Conservation Area to SCC, and protect the Dam.

·       Best time to survey major trees within the Conservation Area.

·       We are still encouraging Sheffield City Council to proceed with their project to get their alcohol licensing system on-line so that everybody can see the opening times etc. which apply to each of the premises in the area.

·       A position is still needed for the second planter.

New planning applications

The following planning applications were found by searching for Ward = “East Ecclesfield”, Parish = Ecclesfield Parish Council”, postcodes S35 9?? and S35 1TE, validated from 9 Oct 2014 to 24th Nov 2014

[The contents of brackets and italics are my interpretation - usually made after only briefly scanning the documents.]

[The application says that students who started in September in the “office wing” will move into the conversion for the 2015/16 term. The building is probably not visible from the road because it is shown as next to the railway line, and behind the children’s nursery - JP]

[This seems to be an application for approval of the existing sign. The declared sizes are …

0.765 metres high, by 8.420 metres wide. This would be 27.6246719 feet or 9 yards wide, but this is so big, that I am wondering if this is an error.]

[2014-05-25 There are now 461 items on the “public comments” section, all as far as I could see against the proposal.

Also the meeting on 13 May 2014 was attended by approximately 50 people, following which the Parish Council raised a number of objections to the proposal. Apparently, one person gave support to the proposal, but was still worried about the quality of the jobs that would be created

Councillor Steven Wilson, and Angela Smith MP registered objections, saying among many other things that some of the proposed mitigations would be nullified by HS2
