Agenda
for the Conservation meeting of
2018-02-27 at 19:00 in “The
Stocks”
A. Chair: Roger Tordoff
C. Apologies:
D. Agenda Items
1. Discussion of any submission to the inquiry into fracking at Marsh Lane.
X. Any Planning Concerns. See the penultimate section.
Y. Any questions or comments on the “Emails received”, “Information watch”, or “Issues remaining”. sections below; or any other business.
Z. Confirmation, or change to scheduled next meeting date of March 27th.
1. We understand that applications have been made to begin exploratory work to drill for gas in Rotherham and Derbyshire, and INEOS has been granted a permit to treat any wastewater at Starnhill Close (off Station Rd), Ecclesfield. INEOS has offered an estimated £2.5 billion in compensation, but as far as I can see, only to people living near the wells. More recently, Sheffield City Council has passed a motion opposing fracking on Council Land, but MP Clive Betts is reported to have said that INEOS have asked to move any planning applications from the Council to the Planning Inspectorate.
The items in the next few sections will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any member wishes to bring them up.
Communications received, e.g. on ecclesfield.conservation@gmail.com
I have tagged
for reply, an enquiry from a gentleman researching the Johnson
family, about the 1733 Nailmakers'
Agreement which is referred to in our
Working Past leaflet. Perhaps somebody has
a copy of “A History of South Yorkshire Countryside by David Hey.
Chapter 13 Ref 18, which according to Google, refers to “The
Ecclesfield Nailmaker’s Agreement” by R. Butterworth, Published
in Transactions of the Hunter Archaeological Society, 2 (1924) pp
114-19.
We received an email from SCC, including a link to a litter reporting form. There was also a link to a list of anti-social behaviors which should be reported to the SCC (e.g. by ringing 0114 2734567), rather than to the police.
The Police now want to speak to Brian Buttery, following The Star , and the Sheffield NE Neighborhood Police’s Facebook page reports on Monday’s armed robbery at Ecclesfield co-op.
Missing schoolboy Jared Buxton was found safe in Ecclesfield.
The SCC ePetition for a new bus route to Meadowhall got 30 signatures. The Star reports that it will be discussed at an upcoming council meeting.
Service 20 is to be diverted down Wordsworth Avenue, instead of Yew Lane.
The SCC are reported to have delivered an £18 million Better Bus Program including smarter signals, bus lanes, junction upgrades, road widening, and cameras on Barnsley Road. However, bad parking has still caused services to be diverted.
Some of the newly surfaced roads and footpaths have been criticized as being smoother, and therefore more prone to being covered by black ice. If anybody knows where our nearest grit bin is, I could put its location on our web site. The effect of the weather on Sheffield bin collections can be found on https://twitter.com/recycle4shef
There is a free talk in Chapeltown Library at 10am on Friday 2nd March by “National Energy Action” entitled “Want to save money on fuel”.
JP thanks BS for pointing out the peculiar date heading the list of new planning applications I emailed to members on Monday. It was the “From” date for the search. I do each search from the date of the last application found in the previous month advanced by one. However, rushing to get the email off, I failed to describe it as such.
If any members can help, or want to bring any of the following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.
* Our
on-line archive and website need attention.
*
Designs for the pop-up banners are still in progress.
*
We have a fireproof trunk for storing archive material.
Members might prefer a more generally accessible location if one can
be found [As well as perhaps other things such as our Gazebo].
*
We still have plans to survey major trees within the
Conservation Area.
* Sheffield
City Council’s alcohol licensing system is still not
on-line. This not only makes it difficult for anybody to find out
what restrictions apply to any licences granted in the past, but we
may be missing some of their new decisions, since we can only see the
latest (2 week?) decisions.
The
following planning applications were found by searching for Ward =

[ 2018-02-27 Status: Awaiting decision. No 54 is
one of the new houses opposite the cemetery. The extension seems to
replace an existing small utility room, but it puts the main 2 story
wall of the house near to the boundary with No. 2 Priory
Close. There don't appear to be any windows in that wall, but it
might be deemed overdevelopment. ]

already got planning permission for the two blocks of link-detached

houses, but each garage is set back, leaving a car-standing.]

until 2018-03-02. This is the full planning application for a house
on land for which provisional permission for 2 houses has already
been conditionally granted. The land currently forms the long back
garden of No. 135 which lies adjacent to the Kindergarten car park,
and continues almost to the lake.
Objections have been lodged
by Mr Steer and the Ecclesfield Dam Fishing Club on the grounds of
lack of permission for the proposed vehicular access from the
Kindergarten car park. The application is accompanied by a very
detailed 85 page report on contaminants in the "made ground"
of the garden, and details of their possible remediation.]

2018-02-27 Still awaiting decision: From Green Lane, this
is the first farm on the right, after the railway bridge. The white
square windows and corrugated metal roof of the barn are just
visible behind the farm house. The previous submission was rejected,
with the “re-cladding in stone”, and “additional dormer
window” being mentioned by in the officer’s report. I am not
sure what problems the dormer windows create, but they still seem to
be in the plans.]
