Agenda for the Conservation Meeting of 2013-09-16

- We received a copy of amateur historian, Michael Dyson’s second book “The sad case of Esther Dyson”, which we have made available on 4conservation.ecclesfieldgroups.com/historical books and leaflets/by Michael Dyson/. Mr Dyson is still interested in any other information anybody might have on the local Dyson family, and welcomes information and queries
- We received an email from an Australian woman, asking for records of her “Sayles” and Burkinshaw” ancestors.
- We received an email from consultants Turner & Townsend, asking for details of our heritage board suppliers, before ordering one themselves.
Information watch
- Rollem Patent Products Ltd. have told The Yorkshire Post that they are “looking at options for the remaining mill building” on The Common.
- The stabbing at The Players Lounge on Yew Lane, resulted in a local man being sentenced to 6 years imprisonment. In light of this, or otherwise, members may wish to comment on the proposal to make the system for licensing people to serve alcohol more flexible at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/personal-alcohol-licences-enabling-targeted-local-alternatives (deadline 2013-11-07).
- The Government is consulting on widening permitted development rights to include change of use, including from agricultural to residential use. Comments at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/greater-flexibilities-for-change-of-use.
z. New Planning Applications
The Proposed Motorway Service Station is not yet a planning application, but if members wish, there is a chance to …
i) Make a submission to the developers before they finalise their proposals and prepare the planning application.
ii) Support the Woodland Trust petition against the current HS2 route.
iii) To comment to the Government on their plans to make developers offset biodiversity losses.

The route for HS2 Phase 2, including the section through Smithy Wood, is now open for submissions at http://www.hs2.org.uk/phase-two/route-consultation/ (closes 2014-01-31). The Government is also consulting on their compensation scheme for disruption caused by HS2 at https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/hs2-property-compensation-consultation-2013.
