- We received several emails from the new “Locality Management Team LAP-North”, including an invitation to an “Information Session”. However this was on Monday 21st October. They do however have a new blog at http://northsheffield.wordpress.com/
- Mr and Mrs Brown emailed us from Manchester to say that they had spent many years researching their family history, and asking for more information on the Ecclesfield Gregory’s, Wragg Wheel, and Oliver Cottages. We replied with links to … http://4conservation.ecclesfieldgroups.com/photographs/Jones/WORK, (Scan26.jpg), and St. Mary’s burial records … www.stmarysecclesfield.com/History/Churchyard_Burials.html . If however anybody has other information or knows of other resources, just email me, and I will pass it on.
- Mrs Steer asked about her Great Great Grand Father, “Bernard Steer”, Gimlet maker, who is mentioned in the Ridge Ledgers. It was very pleasing to be able to reply, and again if anybody has any further information, just email me.
- Stuart Browett, emailed from Portugal, to ask about the Laughton’s. The name did not ring a bell, but apparently his mother talked of sledging across a Dam, so it was a pleasure to give him the link to a modern photograph of Ecclesfield Dam … ecclesfield.wikia.com/wiki/Photos. (Scroll down to "Fishing lake known as Ecclesfield Dam", and click on the photograph to open up a larger picture).

- Ecclesfield Dam advertised as £75,000 for 2.59 acres has been marked as sold on http://www.uklanddirectory.org.uk/land-for-sale.asp?id=11567
- It looks as if Ecclesfield Library will close unless it becomes community supported. Sheffield City Council however is still consulting at http://www.snapsurveys.com/swh/surveylogin.asp?k=138141282835

Members can still comment on the proposal to allow “Biodiversity Offsetting” for schemes such as Smithy Wood at https://consult.defra.gov.uk/biodiversity/biodiversity_offsetting before 7th November.
