3 above - Tree Survey. See the procedure for this in the member�s area. It should capture both a photographic record, and a number representing the total DBH (Diameter at Body Height) of the significant trees (>30cm) in the Conservation Area. 5 above � Aldi. If anybody wants to look at the planning application requirement, they can search for Ref. No: 13/03197/COND. (I think we are still short of an old photograph of the Rollem Mill - JP).
6 above - Sheffield First Partnership have provided a context for our Ward Plan by reporting on Sheffield as a whole.

- We received
an email from JJ offering copies of his new book at the (Authors
discount) price of �10.00. Members can see this and other of Mel�s books

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Melvyn-Jones/e/B001KDR3OW/ref=ntt_dp_epwbk_0 - We received an email from David Morton, Clerk to Ecclesfield Parish Council, assuring us that the Heritage Lottery Fund bid had gone in on 14 January 2014, and that the result could be known at the end of March. If successful, this should provide some money to further develop the Ecclesfield Village Archive.
- We emailed St. Mary�s Parish Church about working together on their death-register and grave-yard information. [Some of this can be seen at http://www.gravestonephotos.com/public/cemetery.php?cemetery=973 and http://www.stmarysecclesfield.com/History/Churchyard_Burials.html .
- We received an email from a student Journalist asking if anybody could speak to them about any events or campaigns in Ecclesfield. [If any members want to get in touch, just let me know, and I will forward the email.]
- A local web site designer has offered a �competitive price� for redesigning our village web site. [I thought his email signature image was a good idea, so I checked his site out. I don�t think he would object to my saying I found it very �different�. Something to remember in case we win the (Heritage) Lottery perhaps - JP]

some Spring_events_at_Greno_Woods,_2014 - The Star says the Police have just had a day of action, finding a stolen vehicle on St. Michaels, and traffic offenses including not wearing seat belts and failing to provide proof of insurance. They have also warned anybody using an unlicensed motorbike used off-road in a public place, that they should expect it to be seized.

Whitley Hall Hotel Elliot Lane Sheffield S35 8NR

The heritage statement says this is a grade II* listed building, dating from the 1580�s, and the land is green belt. As far as I could see, no demolition is proposed. Also, although the proposed extension is contiguous, it only joins the 2008 extension. Solar panels are proposed, but will be hidden behind by the steep pitch roof. The application details several changes suggested by English Heritage and Sheffield City Council, for instance to improve compatibility between old and new parts of the building. English Heritage say they are satisfied
One of the changes is to move the car park further away from the house and into the grounds; however the application claims that this is already an overflow car park.
There is one, very detailed neighbour�s objection. The
planning issues it mentions include�
* A nearby planning application was refused on appeal
* Increase in noise, litter, and light pollution.
*The hazard created by the extra traffic, particularly at the point where
Elliot Lane and Whitely Road join, and where the road is a single carriageway.
The danger posed by the increased traffic resulting from the extension on the
safety of pedestrians, and horse riders.
* Effects on wildlife of pushing cars further into the grounds � although I
have no idea which wildlife that would be.
