Agenda
for the Conservation meeting of
2018-06-26
at 19:00 in “The Stocks”
C. Apologies: RT.
D. Agenda Items
Report on our
attendance at the first part of the Marsh
Lane
Exploratory
Drilling Inquiry.
a)
Approval
or otherwise of placing
our objection on our
Conservation
web site.
b)
Approval
or otherwise of our making similar objections to applications for
other drilling sites.
Results of YR’s work on people associated with Ecclesfield who fell in the 1st World War.
X. Any Planning Concerns. See the penultimate section.
Y. Any questions or comments on the “Emails received”, “Information watch”, or “Issues remaining”. sections below; or any other business.
Z. Confirmation, or change to scheduled next meeting date of July 24th.
1) I will bring a printout of our objection to the tankering of waste from the proposed Marsh Lane drilling, to this meeting. The enquiry to decide on INEOS’s proposal may proceed for most of this week. In case anybody wants to attend, possibly to hear the case for INEOS, then I will add that most of the early sessions started at 9:30, at the Market Hall, Assembly Rooms, Soresby Street, Chesterfield.
There is also a meeting of “Frack Free Ecclesfield and Chapeltown” on 10th July at 7:30 in Ecclesfield Library.
2) YR kindly emailed us a list of 54 people associated with Ecclesfield who died in the first world war.
The items in the next few sections will not be gone through one by one, but can be discussed in any other business if any member wishes to bring them up.
Communications, e.g. on ecclesfield.conservation@gmail.com.
We received an email from the Secretary of “Frack Free Ecclesfield and Chapeltown”, suggesting that people sign the petition against “fast-tracking fracking by:- i) treating exploratory drilling as permitted development; and ii) including fracking in the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Regime”.
SM, emailed to make sure we knew about the Player’s Lounge application, but said he did not know why it had been resurrected. See also the revived planning application for this site under New Planning Applications below.
The
Police are seeking information on the stabbing outside the
Player’s Lounge just after 12 am on the night of Sat/Sun 17th/18th
June. The
Star reported that the 16 year old has now been discharged from
hospital. See also the revived planning application for this site
under New Planning Applications below.
There
is a new SCC ePetition
against “demolishing our trees”.
Protesters
have requested
that companies do not provide services to the fracking industry, and
again mentioned the possible processing of wastewater in
Ecclesfield.
The
Environmental Audit Committee is looking for submissions
on a proposed environmental watchdog to replace EU legislation. It
asks 8 questions, including one on the proposal to exclude climate
change from its remit.
There are complaints about the late grass cutting on Yew Lane and throughout Sheffield.
Thanks to help from RT, all three heritage boards have had re-enforcing washers fitted and are now wobble‑free. In case any further work is needed, I should mention that the board’s security screws need a special tool to unscrew them, but I have put this is with our archive collection in case anybody wants to do further work on the boards.
Our insurance policy with Zurich has been renewed at a cost of £117.60.
Outstanding issues
If any members can help, or want to bring any of the following up for any other reason, they can do so in any other business.
* Our on-line archive and website need
attention.
* Designs for the pop-up banners
are still in progress.
* We have a
fireproof trunk for storing archive material. Members might
prefer a more generally accessible location if one can be found [As
well as perhaps other things such as our Gazebo].
*
We still have plans to survey major trees within the
Conservation Area.
* Sheffield
City Council’s alcohol licensing system is still not
on-line. This not only makes it difficult for anybody to find out
what restrictions apply to any licences granted in the past, but we
may be missing some of their new decisions, since we can only see the
latest (2 week?) decisions.

following planning applications were found by searching for Ward =

101 is on the left, just after The Wheel. It is beyond the
Conservation Area, and neither the old conservatory or the new
extension appear to me to be visible from the road. Also, the layout
submitted with the application shows the extension being outside the
what the applicant conjectures to be the borders of the Green Belt,
and I could not see any large or important trees that would be
affected. There is one comment regretting the fact that this is a
retrospective application, the extension having already been
built.]

Status: Decided.
Approval was given for one 4 bed detached house.
Reasons quoted, included I)
that the Council can only
demonstrate 4.5 year’s deliverable housing; ii)
that this is a brown field site and the council has an objective of
88% of developments of previously developed land.
This is the full planning application for a house on land for which
provisional permission for 2 houses has already been conditionally
granted. The land currently forms the long back garden of No. 135
which lies adjacent to the Kindergarten car park, and continues
almost to the lake.
Objections were
lodged by Mr Steer and the Ecclesfield Dam Fishing Club on the
grounds of lack of permission for the proposed vehicular access from
the Kindergarten car park. However,
the officers report says that “...rights of access in
most instances are not material [planning] consideration...”, and
“...permission … is a matter that he [i.e. the applicant] will
have to resolve with the owners of the land.”
The
application is accompanied by a new 134 page report. This says that
the pond is 6000 square metres in area, of unknown depth, and 2.5
metres above the majority of the site. Its conclusions include 11
recommendations for further work, including drilling to check for
contaminants and the stability of the embankment.]
